Welcome to my class! I am really looking forward to working with, and getting to know you this school year.
From my vacation in Costa Rica, horseback riding on the beach.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: I attended East Brunswick High School and then William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. I graduated, with honors, with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and received my Teacher of the Handicapped Certification. In addition, I hold a Standard Elementary K to 5 Certificate. In May 2011 I earned my Master's Degree from Walden University in Educational Technology, as I enjoy incorporating many types of technology into my teaching practices. I also hold the positions of West End Computer Facilitator and Webmaster.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND: Before joining North Plainfield I taught in Manville, as well as, Manalapan. This school year will bring the start of my 21st year as a teacher, 20th year in the district, and my 17th at West End. Prior to becoming a part of the West End community, I taught at East End for three years.
During past summers I have taught at Lakeview School in Edison, New Jersey. This allows me the opportunity to work with students who have significant cognitive and physical disabilities. I truly enjoy the chance to broaden my teaching experiences each summer. The past nine summers, however, I served as a Site Director for an academic camp in my hometown of East Brunswick. We focused on STEM learning activities, as well as Problem Based Learning.
I am looking forward to using my experiences in the Library and Media Center position this year.
ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE: In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family (especially my niece and nephew!) and friends, seeing Broadway shows in New York, traveling, concerts (Justin Timberlake!), watching movies, and going to the beach.
I am happy to say that I truly love my job. Working with children is something I have wanted to do as a career since I was a teenager working each summer at camp.
Thank you for entrusting me with your child's education this school year.
